1. uPVC: Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride

  2. Casement Window/door: Window/door with inside/outside opening panels

  3. Sliding Window/door: Windows/doors with sliding panels

  4. Window/Door Outer Frame: The part of the window fixed to the masonry work

  5. Transome: Horizontal dividers of a window/door outer frame

  6. Mullion: Vertical dividers of a window/door outer frame

  7. Midrail: Dividers (horizontal or vertical) in a window/door sash

  8. Bay window: A combination of three or more windows that projects outward from the main walls forming a bay in a room, either square or polygonal.

  9. Tilt & Turn Window: A window that (i) tilts at an angle for ventilation and (ii) opens inwards like a casement.

  10. Combination Window: Any window that uses two or more types of systems in a single unit is referred as combination windows. For example, casement window with certain fixed frames will qualify as a combination window.

  11. Thermal Expansion: Change in dimension of a material due to change in temperature. The amount by which a material's dimensions vary is unique for that particular material and no two materials expand or contract to the same degree.

  12. Anodizing: This is a process of coating aluminium, which increases the thickness and thus makes it suitable for distinct designs and electrical insulation and mechanical wear.

  13. Powder Coating: Powder lacquering of aluminium extru¬sions is a solvent-free and environmen¬tally sustainable method that provides a wide spectrum of colors. It gives good corrosion characteristics, a durable and low-friction surface. Powder lacquer is resistant to UV light thus it is also suitable for outdoor use.

  14. PVDF Coating: A PVDF coating (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a chemical resistant thick film barrier coating. This coating is unaffected by most chemicals, solvents and abrasion resistance. PVDF coatings also have a high dielectric strength, excellent resistance to weathering and the ability to self-extinguish.

  15. Finish: A coating process to impart natural elements like wood, marble and granite with photographic fidelity. The finish is obtained with the application of coat of powder first and then through heat transfer of various designs.

  16. Surface finish: The original outer texture of the aluminium extrusion, which are used as window sections.
